Individual Psychotherapy is a one to one meeting generally on a once a week basis, to discuss the issues you present, identify problem areas and work toward meeting therapeutic goals together. Common problems you may be experiencing could be:

  • Difficulties in relationship
  • Sadness or depression
  • Feelings of anxiety or panic
  • Difficulties managing your anger
  • Difficulties dealing with your children or parenting issues
  • Unresolved traumas from your past
  • Grief over the loss of a loved one
  • Dealing with substance abuse in your past or someone you care about

Couples Therapy includes counseling with marriages and significant relationships. This form of treatment focuses more upon the relationship between the partners, and problems existing in the relationship are usually the main focus of attention. Usually, help is needed when a couple travels the same ground over and over again without making progress. Tension, anger and frustration may continue to build, particularly over the most important areas in the relationship.

In couples therapy, I will help you and your partner identify the conflict areas and issues in your relationship, assist in helping both partners decide what changes are needed and be an ally with both partners in helping them work toward resolving tensions in their relationship.

Couples therapy involves developing more constructive means to talk to one another usually deepening the relationship bond. Unhealthy patterns are addressed with each partner learning to share responsibility within the relationship.

Family Therapy is a collaborative treatment where all members of the family are encouraged to be involved in all or some portion of the counseling.

Usually, the initial concerns surround difficulties with children/teens and their behavior and/or tensions within the home environment creating distressed emotional relationships. Parental discord, in-law tensions or being overwhelmed with a troubled child are common presenting difficulties.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is a mode of treatment where sessions are scheduled on a 2-3 weekly basis to address deeper tensions in a more intensive manner. This form of treatment is usually face to face but may involve lying on the couch. This treatment usually last longer, over a period of years.
